The standard housing is one-piece cast iron construction with the gate made of stainless steel. Pipe size connections from 4” to 16” with standard ANSI 150# flange drilling. The Knife Gate Valve is offered either manual (handwheel or chainwheel) or air operated. Optional material of construction is cast aluminum and stainless steel.
Meyer Knife Gate Valve is good to 500°F temperature operation (900°F with metal seat).
Pressure differentials to 15 PSI.
The Meyer Knife Gate Valve is designed for positive shut off of all dry free flowing bulk material. It may be used in metering, feeding, or discharge of dust under hoppers, silos or other conveying equipment. The Knife Gate Valve may cut through a standing material column. Its low height is a strategic advantage.
The unit consists of cast iron housing with a stainless steel gate supported by a series of rolling cams and with an inlet seal positioned beneath the inlet retaining ring sandwiching the gate at the top.
The unit incorporates a stuffing box with a series of packing. There is a packing gland nut where pressure on the packing is maintained by adjusting the lock nuts. Constant pressure on the packing must be maintained to insure sealing against the gate blade.
The valve is designed to provide reliable shutoff, metering and separation of all dry and non-clogging bulk material from dust to coarse grain granulated material up to ¼ inch. |
